Napa Valley Conference Hailed as a Major
Success

The IMGL Napa Valley conference, held
May 22-23 at the Villagio Inn & Spa, was
a major success thanks to the efforts of
the conference committee (John
Maloney, Harlan Goodson and
Jerry Levine) and our
Executive Director, Melissa
Lurie. The facilities
were excellent and the weather was
perfect.
Total attendance topped 135 persons from
around the globe, including Australia,
Canada, China, Denmark, Germany,
Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Philippines,
Russia, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom
and the United States.
Anthony Miranda, the
Chairman of the California Nations
Indian Gaming Association, was the
opening keynote speaker on Thursday.
Bobby Moak, Chairman of the Gaming
Committee in the Mississippi House of
Representatives addressed the group at
lunch.
IMGL Honors Stevens, Fahrenkopf,
Lipton, Maloney
Ernie Stevens Jr.,
Chairman of the National Indian Gaming
Association and a 2008 IMGL Gaming
Executive of the Year honoree, was the
featured speaker on Friday morning in
conjunction with the Gaming Executive of
the Year award presentation. He shares
the honor with American Gaming
Association President and CEO
Frank Fahrenkopf Jr.
In front of a sellout audience at the
Markham Vineyards dinner,
Michael Lipton of Elkind and
Lipton, was recognized for his service
during 2006-2007 as the President of
IMGL. In addition, John
Maloney of Maloney & Tabor was
recognized for his extraordinary service
to the IMGL over an extended period of
time and is the first recipient of the
President’s Cup Award.

President and CEO, American
Gaming Association; and
Ernest Stevens Jr., Chairman,
National Indian Gaming
Association, in Napa
Valley.
